One more beautiful and unique icon of Saint George painted with acrylic on prepared wood panel, inspired by an old Russian icon dating from the first half of the 16th century.

As usual, I worked diligently to preserve the design and colours of the old inspirational icon but adding my own touch to enhance its character.

I used acrylic paint, aged the icon using traditional techniques and finished it with protective varnish and beeswax for durability and an antique appearance.

To avoid cracking of the wooden panel or movement, following the example of the Old Master, I reinforced the back of the icon with cross-bracing.
