Hand-painted on glass
Another Romanian icon on glass, in reverse technique, inspired by the Master of naïve art, Savu Moga (1816-1899). The original icon, painted in 1855, represents Saint George slaying the Dragon, a well known and very popular subject in Eastern Orthodox countries but equally well known and venerated in the Western Christian world. The icon was painted in acrylic and oil paint and I was very careful to be true to the original design (Izvod) and chromatic colour.
Painted, dated and signed in 2006 by Vlad
