Hand-painted on glass
One very special icon on glass inspired by the work of Savu Moga (1816-1899) from Transylvania/Romania. Out of his entire portfolio known to be in existence, this particular icon is the most dramatic creation, renowned for its elegance, grace and the emotional expressiveness of The Mother of God’s face. The complex composition features groups of cherubs surrounding the Holy Spirit, God the Father and the crucified Jesus. In the left corner is an inscription in Cyrillic (the language used on most of the oldest icons) reading:
“He who only with his word made heaven and earth stands on a nailed cross" and dated 1877 … a wonderful thing. This icon was painted with acrylic and oil like all my icons on glass, and the frame and back protection were made from recycled wood .
Painted, dated and signed circa. 2010 by Vlad
