Hand-painted on glass

A classic naïve inspired Romanian icon on glass by one of the well known Masters, Savu Moga (1816-1899) who lived and worked in Transylvania/Romania. Again, heavily influenced by Byzantine or Russian artists. He had a magic touch for creating a naïve anatomic design, making all his icons on glass so very special and unique. I have carefully respected the original design and the colour palette to be as close as possible to the Master's original, hence the background and halos finished in Trinity copper rather than gold, to match the chromatic of the old icon.

The icon was painted in a combination of acrylic and oil and the back of the glass is protected inside the frame with fine wood backing.
