A very special icon painted in acrylic on handmade recycled wood panel. I was inspired by an old Greek icon created around 1613-1618 in Heraklion, Crete, now housed in the Church of San Giorgio dei Greci in Venice. The intricacy of the detail was a massive challenge, but with a lot of patience and hard work I watched the icon come gradually to life and I’m proud to have done justice to the beautiful old icon.

The panel was crossed-braced to avoid any movement and finished with varnish and polished with beeswax, giving the aura and mystery of an old icon.
