Here is a reproduction of an old Greek Orthodox artwork, originally painted around the 15th century in the Cemetery Chapel of Saint Nicholas in Lemythou. This magnificent piece of art has undoubtedly inspired Orthodox iconography work throughout Eastern Europe and Russia.

My approach was to honour the original Master by capturing the look and feel of the old icon.
 
I used acrylic paint, aged the icon using traditional techniques and finish with protective varnish and beeswax polish for durability and an antique appearance.
